NEW TEAM – NEW PLAYERS WANTED!

The Easton Cowfolk Cricket Club was formed in 2022 to reastablish a cricket team to represent the wider club. After having had a year of net sessions and a few friendlies, we have now entered The North Somerset Cricket League for the 2023 season. The League is a Sunday league of 40 over games that takes place from May through to September. The home pitch will be at the Rose Green centre in Whitehall. Cricket nets during the season will also be at Rose Green.

We are looking for players to join whether it be just for nets, a few games or the whole season. The League is an adult league for over 14’s, however we are happy for under 14’s to attend nets with appropriate adult supervision. Membership is open to all under the Easton Cowfolk Clubs principals of anti- racist, anti-sexist, anti-fascist, anti-homophobic and anti-transphobic. We respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person and will treat everyone equally regardless of age, ability, gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief, sexuality or social/economic status.

Absolute beginners welcome!

The cricketers report thus: Yes it’s back!!!! Most of you know the drill, head over to eastoncowfolk.org.uk/fantasy-cricket and get stuck in. The deadline for scoring points in the first weekend is May 2nd. You have until the end of May to pay, so get on and pick a team and sort the money later (not too much later). Oh and for the record, we’re raising money for infrastructure at the 2 new grounds we’ve moved to.

Rage In The Cage

Following on from the success of football and netball events at Easton Community Centre, the cricket boys are getting a 6-a-side tournament together on May 6th, bank holiday Monday. Games will be a faster pace than you’ve seen before! It’s a publicity event to generate some new players, a fresh drive and a bit of cash to help us out, as the rain last season hit us hard financially (we still have ground costs when games are continuously rained off). Its gonna be a family-friendly day, and we’re hoping for a mixed up team or 2...

Indoor Cricket Results

The story of this weeks game starts with, as you might have noticed on the email list, the search for extra players. At one point 2 players short thankfully we were able to hand indoor debuts to Alfie and Neil. With Stroddy also playing his first game of the year we had a side lacking in experience. But given our run of 3 defeats in a row maybe a little fresh enthusiasm was what we needed. Rob lost the toss and the opposition put us in to bat for the first time this season. Tom and Dave made a great start, Dave retiring for the second game...

Results And Stuff

14/10/2012 Netaball report thus: A cracking game this morning, with an 18-16 victory for the Div 11 team against Wired. The teams were evenly matched at half time, with just a goal between us, but we pulled away in the third quarter with some well-choreographed attacks and conceded only one goal. Our defence kept Wired at bay in the last quarter and we finished the match two up. Rachel was awarded player of the match by Wired and wingers Yo and Holly tied the player vote from us, for excellent centre court support. Thanks to Em B for coming...

Indoor Cricket Report

On Tuesday the Cowboys rode forth to battle the worthy foes Twyford house (this Olde English style would have worked better if I was talking about slaying the Winterbourne Dragons so I’ll drop it). We bowled first for the 4th consecutive match. Tom had fallen ill so Matt Noodles stepped in to give us the full complement of 8 and Justin took the gloves. It was, by his account, a painful experience (in more than one way unfortunately). I won’t go into the gory details but suffice it to say we bowled poorly. With the exception of...
