Open to new members
We are keen to recruit new members of all experience and none. Most of us had never played softball before. The positions include various fielding roles and batting. You could also get involved with pitching underarm.
What is softball?
Softball is a bat-and-ball sport similar to baseball, played between two teams of mixed gender players, who take turns batting and fielding with the objective of getting players out and scoring home runs.
Ethos
We play in the spirit of inclusion and diversity as a mixed gender team that encourages those from minority backgrounds and experiences to get involved in team sport. Our aim is to make sport accessible for those with all skills and to foster a sense of community. As members of the Bristol Softball Association we play in the third league on Tuesday evenings from April to September. Active members of our team fundraise for other parts of the Cowfolk and other causes, alongside getting involved in community meals.
Training
We train ad hoc during the winter and summer, including sessions at Eastville Park and St George Park. Currently, we play in the Bristol Softball Association league from April to September on Tuesday evenings (approx 6pm-8.30pm) at Clifton College Sports Ground, Leigh Woods.
Matches
Tuesdays from 6pm at Clifton Sports Club, April to September
Wider community
Alongside playing the sport of softball, we encourage members of the team to get involved with wider Cowfolk activities including; community meals, fundraising and attending meetings.
