Mountain Marathon

Many of you have been to Mexico and met Olly, who worked on the KIPTIK  projects out there, and many of you will have met him in Bristol. He now lives in Barcelona and reports thus:

On November the 10th, I am running a mountain marathon in the hills of the Montseny, near Barcelona, to raise funds for the projects I worked with in Mexico, Guatemala and Colombia, with the NGO Concern America. I’ll be running 42km and with a total of climb/descent of 5400m. Have a look at the route here : it´s brutal!!! I’m expecting the run to take about 7 hours. Ufff…

I’m trying to raise £ 7000 to pay for the construction of water supply systems, fuel-efficient cooking stoves and off-grid solar photovoltaic systems.

£ 100 pays for a fuel efficient cooking stove for 1 family for the next 10 years.

£ 250 pays for clean water supply for 1 family for the next 15 years.

£ 500 pays for solar panels to bring clean power to a rural health post.

I’m running around 50km every week now and training hard. Gave up smoking which I highly recommend to all smokers. Knees are just about holding up and I’ve never felt better! Hope to see you as I hobble to the finish line and thanks for your support!
