Netball report thus:

The Div 11s took on second-in-the-table Elevation this morning and were beaten 28-10. Our defence was strong in the circle but we struggled to get the ball up the court on a few occasions (all good stuff to work on in the future!) Our attack played the ball around their circle well and make some great shots under pressure from experienced opponents. Misty was awarded the double player vote from us and Elevation for taking on an excellent shooter and providing good support in the defensive third. With a few tweaks we’ll be in with a good chance come the rematch in February! x

Well the A’s lost their match too, 41-43 to DHT which doesn’t sound that bad but we should of kicked ass. Disappointing performance and we have all given ourselves a stern talking too. Vernie however, got double whammy player of the match! x

Downs A beat Clifton Rockets 3-4.

Downs B’s match with Cotham Old Boys was pesponed.

The Suburbans lost 0-1 to Old Georgians

We also have a late match report from last Tuesday’s Indoor Cricket League match:

Well here it is, the extremely belated match report from last Tuesday.

The Cowboys took on the Housing Pirates. In many respects this was a classic Cowboys encounter. How does a classic Cowboys encounter start? With a player not turning up of course. Sir Matt Davey “the absent” let us down (we are yet to hear of the health of his cat) but we were able to enlist the help of the usual umpire John who was just there to watch.

RT2 lost the toss for the second successive week (and is going to write this match report as if he is someone else so he can keep his editorial air of subversive insubordination) which of course makes him a crap captain. This time, however, he was lucky enough to get what he wanted anyway and the Cowboys were put into bat.

Tom and the debutant Simon were asked to open. Tom got us off to a flyer and retired inside of 3 overs after smashing 3 sixes in an over. Remember when I said this was a classic Cowboys performance? Well what comes next? A batting collapse of course. We lost Simon, Alfie and John in quick succession to bring RT2 to the crease. After a brief, far from chanceless knock, he too was sent back. Iggy and Garner provided some brief entertainment as did Tom on his return (finishing on 30). The Cowboys made 91.

RT2 and Garner opened the bowling and, to everyone’s surprise, it all went rather well. RT2 even took a wicket. Garner was the real hero though with figures of 3 – 14. with some good bowling from Iggy and John the Pirates were bowled out for 64.

Much fun was had by all. Well done Cowboys.

P.S. There have been some vicious rumours about a game the Tuesday before last. Apparently a team closely resembling the Cowboys turned up and gave the opposing side 90 extras and lost by about 80 runs. It couldn’t have been us because I would remember that… though… I don’t remember what I did that Tuesday and I have been waking up screaming in cold sweats with flashes of men with outstretched arms (though I’ve been having dreams similar to that since I was little – long story, don’t ask).
