The Saturday Team beat Timsbury 3rds by 8 wickets. They got 99 in 31 overs with Windypops bowling 8-3-15-1 and Uberpops bowling 5-0-10-3. In reply Ev battened down the hatches with 15 off 41 balls and Kahlu baton charged the bowling hitting 57 off just 38 balls. It was all over in 28.1 overs.

Ev reports thus:

With our home ground at Winford unpreparable due to weeks of constant rain this match was cancelled on thursday. However our opposition kindly agreed to play the fixture at their place and a team, and a tea, was hastily reassembled for the first league game of the year in warm spring sunshine.

Following a lucky guess of heads Timsbury were inserted on a pudding like wicket and bowled out for just 99 in 31 overs, with SteveO returning the best figures of 3-10, swinging the ball extravagantly. All the bowlers bowled well, so well in fact that Kalu, Iggy and Evan were not required to take the ball.

Ben and Justin opened proceedings in the Cowboys innings, collecting runs cautiously until Justin was caught at backward square in the 6th over for 5. Ben continued looking solid and taking ones and twos, and defending well as the ball was coming off the pitch slowly. Evan took 18 balls and half an hour to get off the mark in a bid to bore the opposition into submission.

When Ben pulled one hard straight to square leg Cowboys were 27 for 2 on a dodgy wicket. Surely time to consolidate? – apparently not – Kalus first words to skipper Evan when he arrived at the crease were “lets finish this now”.

Kalu then threw the bat wildly at every ball he faced (with the exception of one or two utterly incongruous forward defensive shots) , and bludgeoned his way to 57 not out winning the game, the Man of the Match award and the Amontillado Moment with a straight 6!

Easton Cowboys won by 8 wickets.

The Sunday 1st Team lost to Stothert & Pitt CC 3rds by 129 runs. They hit an impressive 237 on what must have been a fairly sticky wicket. BobT2 bowled 8-1-43-3. In reply we mustered a measly 108, with Ned getting 34 and Omar getting 31.

In what looks like an odd game the Sunday 2nd Team lost to Bristol Lions CC by 118 runs. The foe hit 164 with Wayne and DC2 both getting 4 wickets each (yeah, go DC you are in my fantasy team).  The openers got 79 and then the middle order collapsed before number 8 hit 40. In reply our boys could only manage 46 with Fat Boy top scoring with 17 batting at number 9 and 5 players getting ducks.
