Cricket Friendly vs Long Ashton:

On a fine and sunny evening we won the toss and chose to bat. Things were all going lovely at first ,with opener Ian Higgins timing it beautifully and making 40 and Evan hitting a quick 28. After 11 overs the cowboys were nicely placed at 90 for 3 and a big total seemed inevitable. However, committing the cardinal sin of forgetting to “Remember Kilmersden” the cowboys collapsed in classical fashion, losing the next 7 wickets for just 19 runs. In reply Long Ashton knocked the runs off in 18 overs despite a fine display of legspin bowling by Kalu who took 3 for not very many and some great wicket keeping from Simon Wilson, who hadn’t kept for years.

Cricket Friendly vs Old England

The Old E won by 24 runs in a veritable runfest at Frenchay, where 534 runs were scored in total. Old E won the toss and batted first. After a couple of early wickets fell there came two lads to the crease, both named Irfan, who battered the ball to every corner of the ground without mercy. It didn’t help that we dropped them 4 times. Irfan 1 retired on 50 odd, seemingly bored. Irfan 2, clearly enjoying the carnage, continued to gorge himself until, fat with runs, he retired on reaching his hundred. With the big hitters safely gone Evan brought himself back on and took 5 wickets. Ben Preece took an excellent one handed catch with a cry of “oh shit!”. Old E finally declared on 279 for 8.

In reply the cowboys got to 255 for 8 mostly thanks to a partnership of 90 odd between Harry (55 not out) and Alan (48 not out) with Evan (39) and Simon W(30) chipping in. Harry won man of the match and Alans suspect ladies trousers won the cider moment.
