The Cowgirls lost to Calloway Ladies 11-5

The Cricket Cup Team lost to Weston Super Mare 3rds in the  Butcombe Cup. It is always the way in the cup, you draw a team that are several divisions above you and then get roundly defeated in front  of a UKIP meeting that is taking place in the opposition’s club house. They got off to a good start with a great brute of a man hitting boundaries with ease but after a few quick wickets they were pinned back to 128 in their 20 overs. The Cowboys never quite got going with the bat and  in the face of some very accurate bowling  limped to 80 odd in their 20 overs.

The Easton Cowboys 3rd Team lost to Brislington 4th Team by 26 runs. The glorious 3rds were not so glorious and lost a match they should have won quite comfortably. Only one of the opposition batsmen got into double figures and he got 108 having been dropped when he was on about 10. The extras were the second highest scorer with 34 out of Brislington’s  181. Garner bowled 8-0-26-3 and Gary bowled 8-0-23-1. Dave Flinton kept wicket manfully taking a great catch to dismiss one of the openers. The Cowboys managed to keep up with the required run rate for quite a while but kept losing wickets, the extras top scored with 38 beating Ev by 1 run. 3 players scored 13 and Rob was unlucky to get out on the 7th ball of an over (the umpire had miscounted). Otam was so displeased by this defeat that he has threatened to remove chip privileges.
