‘Bring the Heat’ hots up the city with Bristol’s Brazilian benefit event from the Easton Cowboys and Cowgirls.
Heating up the long winter nights ‘Bring the Heat’ is a carnival party night featuring the city’s hottest talent, with rare sets from some of Bristol’s best musicians and DJs, plus a live link to a community football team in Brazil, who will benefit from the charity night from the Easton Cowboys and Cowgirls at Easton Community Centre.
Headlining is Mr. Blue Fontaine from Laminate Radio – his infectious brand of boogie, funk and disco may just set off the smoke alarms he’s so hot. After tearing up Glastonbury, Shambala and rocking out the decade on NY 2009, Laminate Radio will surely blow the doors off the Community Centre!
A rare DJ set from Babyhead will showcase tracks from the upcoming new album, plus dub classics, Brasilian funk, ska rarities and much more to make you sweat, bounce and bogle
Glastonbury festival’s Battle of the Bands winners Jon. E. Vistic – set to play the Pyramid stage this summer – will be dusting off their dub records and going back to their roots with an exclusive dub reggae DJ set.
Plus: Dubrovnik plays a special dj set of Brazilian breaks, beats and funk; James Morton’s legendary saxophone and firebrand sound warms our ears with live bossa nova, jazz and funk; The Mean Little Gypsies, a mesmerizing live three piece flamenco band; Muff Said, a ska, punk, pop outfit, showcasing their unique brand of raw energy and catchy tunes; Dorset cider punk trio Who’s Aff’’erd; with remixer and producer Random Object bringing us a Brazilian influenced Drum n’ Bass and Dubstep set.
Cabaret hosts Peewee and Chinese Alan (BBC’s “Gavin and Stacey”) present masters of physical comedy Skate Naked – doing a handstand, on a bike, on fire; plus Kaz’s Keep Fit Disco -unabashed fitness/breakdance freak Kaz and friends will get you moving, and much more.
It’s payback time for extroverts with a prize bottle of Cachaca (Brazilian Rum) for the ‘Best Beachwear’ on the night – so dust off those bikini’s, mankini’s, Hawaiin shirts and carnival costumes.
No Brazilian street fiesta is complete without a cocktail bar, stalls, a barbeque and a pool to lounge around for a breather. And at midnight a special live video link up with Sao Paulo’s Autonomos Football Club in Brazil will let them know just how hot Bristol is!
Easton Cowboys and Cowgirls visited Autonomous FC last summer and are raising funds to bring the Brazilian team – who represent disadvantaged communities in Sao Paulo – to visit Bristol this summer and participate in the Alternative World Cup 2010 held in Yorkshire.
