Tournament Invite

We have been sent the following tournament invite:

COPA LUCRECIA LINDO 2009
WOMEN’S FUTBOL FOR NICARAGUA

Hola Companeras y amigas de futbol

Bristol Link with Nicaragua is organising a women’s five-a-side footballl tournament to raise some funds for a women’s Project in Puerto Morazan, Bristol’s twin town in Nicaragua, Central America.

The tournament is named after Nicaraguan heroine and revolutionary martyr Lucrecia Lindo whose name is taken by many women’s projects, co-operatives and campaigns in present day Nicaragua. BLINC has supported the Lucrecia Lindo women’s shrimp farming co-operative since it started in 1986.

The Copa Lucrecia Lindo will take place on SUNDAY 14th JUNE 2009 at Windmill Hill City Farm, Phillip St, Bedminster (opposite ASDA). The five a side pitch is permaprene so you will need trainers and a minimum of five players but in our experience a squad of seven is best. We are hoping to have ten teams with one group of five in the morning and one in the afternoon. The top two from each group will go through to semis. The farm café will be open all day for food and drinks and changing rooms/showers are available. The City Farm has kindly agreed to give us the pitch for free to support our project. A big muchas gracias to them.

BLINC will provide a trophy, referees, balls and bibs although please try and ensure your team all wear the same colour shirts. Copa Lucrecia Lindo rules will be sent out along with sponsor forms and other details once you have booked a place. We are asking each player to raise £10 with a minimum of £50 per team.

If you would like to enter a team in this year’s Copa Lucrecia Lindo, please send your team’s name, contact details and a £50 deposit cheque made out to “BLINC” to
