We’ve very nicely been invited to Clapton Ultra’s ‘Proudly East London’ tournament 2017. Info below. Looks like we’ll be entering either 1 women’s and 1 men’s team, or a mixed team.
In partnership with Kick It Out and Fans For Diversity, we’re hosting our annual Proudly East London 5-a-side football tournament on Saturday July 15th 2017 and would like to invite your team to attend. The tournament aims to bring football teams and community groups together to celebrate the diversity of East London and promote inclusion both within and beyond football. We expect the tournament to run from around 12-6pm and hope to organise an after-party following the day’s play.
This year we’re aiming to build on last year’s event by including more teams and making sure the teams match up better. With this in mind, we ask that you roughly assess your team’s ability and/or competitiveness in terms of the following three categories:
1) Just for fun (i.e. non-competitive)
2) Half-decent (mixed ability)
3) Competitive (a majority of experienced players)
This will make it easier for us to match up teams and make sure that tournament works for everyone. If you’re a mixed or women’s team, we also ask if you could state whether you’d be happy to play against men’s and/or mixed teams.
This year we’ll be running a food bank for our local refugee group, so please be prepared to bring along non-perishable food items to contribute to this. If you’d like to help out with refereeing, music or any other part of the preparation, please let us know. We run the tournament as volunteers on a tight budget so could always do with any extra pair of hands.
